I love rough brushes.

Anyway, with all the holiday parties going on right now I hope you have a little bit of fun too. ;)

Celebrity Fascination

November 3, 2014

Courtney Stodden. Those two words are synonymous in my mind with sheer mind-numbing voyeuristic entertainment. It’s not a big secret that the human psyche loves a little bazaar with their morning coffee and I am no exception to this rule. I don’t generally follow celebrity gossip columns as I generally don’t care that much about celebrities- but come to that I am not even sure if Courtney IS a celebrity. I have a few fave actors that I hold in great esteem like Daniel Day Lewis and Gary Oldman… but lets face it, they’re not up to entertaining antics. Courtney can’t sing, though she tries, she can’t act though she tries, her pumpkin carving skills are questionable at best- and in the shoes she wears… im pretty sure dancing could result in very serious injuries, if not death.

Courtney, if you remember- back in 2011 was the 16 year old bride of then 51 year old Doug Hutchison (Lost, Green Mile actor). She’s a busty, vivacious, perversely religious, animal loving, entirely STRANGE human being who I am utterly fascinated with.  Like, I want to be her friend and ask her questions and present philosophical conundrums and see how she responds. Her twitter kills me, her Instagram is nothing but ridiculousness and she once got kicked out of a pumpkin patch for being too risque. I should hate her, but I don’t! she owns being a cartoon character like no one I have ever seen with a naiveté that just makes you sigh and think “oooh that Courtney, she’s at it again.” Weirdly lovable.

Clearly she is a real person with real feelings and is probably a very nice person, but to me, she is like a really cool tropical bug exhibit at the natural history museum. I am perplexed, fascinated and wholly absorbed in all the things she does. I follow her on Instagram and Twitter and I can guarantee you I’d ask for her autograph and a picture if I saw her on the street. She seems like the kind of celebrity that both knows she’s ridiculous and is totally on board with it.

Anyway, her lady mammaries keep getting bigger, as do her lips. I drew her little character today after having yet another conversation about her to friends at a party. I didn’t really take the drawings far enough, eventually I’d like to draw a very silly one with just her eyeballs and a bit of platinum blond hair peeking above her giant knockers… but until that happens here you go. Magic in lucite heels.

Makeup Monday- Lorac

August 11, 2014

I scored an gift certificate to Sephora over the weekend. So I bought the Lorac Pro palette. I die. Gawd I love makeup. Give me all the make up. If you were a kid in the 90’s there was this AMAZING Toys-R-Us challenge on Nickelodeon where you got 5 minutes to plough through the toy store with a basket getting whatever you wanted. I wish they would do that at Sephora. Honestly I’d probably die of pure joy if I won and I wouldn’t even live to do the challenge. If I did though, I’d do some DAMAGE.

So the scoop is… Lorac Pro in the matte shades on top- with Cream, Taupe and Espresso. I was going for a relatively simple natural colors look so I just used 3 colors, brow-bone, lid and crease. Nothing fancy here. Not shown is the little tube of Lorac’s eye primer that comes with the Palette- of course I used it. The Lorac palette is beautiful, the colors are wonderful and the actual shadows are well pigmented and apply easily. The darker colors are difficult to blend as they are so pigmented, I would recommend blowing on your brush to get rid of some of the shadow and preventing a ton of fallout. I can already tell this is going to be a daily use sort of palette.

First time using Benefit “They’re real Push up Liner” Man, that stuff is interesting. I like it, I could do with the product was a little thinner, and that seems to be a common complaint with all the beauty reviewers. The product tends to ball up if you don’t work fast enough. I recommend starting with the inner corner of your eye first because that part isn’t as forgiving. You don’t want to build that part up thick. I hadn’t practiced with it before so I just sort of went at it and in hindsight would have been a little more careful to get it on straight. However weird it is to put on at first, it does get very close to your lash line with it’s weird base shape, and a pointy wing is very easy to make because of the angled tip. IT’S HARD TO GET OFF! Therefore uh… try not to mess up or you’ll be stuck with janky eyeliner all day. Mascara is just Maybelline Great Lash. I have about a gazillion different mascaras. From YSL Babydoll to Benefits “They’re Real”. I always go back to it because I think it works the best for me and hooorayyyy! it’s cheap.

Too Faced candlelight stuff is great! I feel all aglow. I don’t often use a highlighting powder but this one is subtle and doesn’t look like you’re wearing glitter. I’m not a fan of glitter all up on my mug. It’s very soft and feminine. 10/10 will wear everyday.

Lips are a sample of Bite Beauty Luminous Creme lipstick cream duo in Musk. It’s a sort of natural or nude for me, the other side is called Lychee and it’s a little lighter and pinker.

Face is ONLY Sephora pressed powder in Medium and I used a the Half Baked bronzer by Urban Decay as a sort of contour powder/blush.

Das it, Makeup Monday!

Purple Smokey Eye with UD Palette

July 25, 2014

A very lovely friend of mine is getting married in a few months and I was helping her with DIY project. We made some really beautiful name cards for her seating arrangements. I was cracking up watching her measure and cut- a craftswoman she is not! I eventually relieved her of DIY duty and offered to take on the task of finishing them up. So now I get to try and rock out some pretty calligraphy! Excitement runs rampant through my veins (and not in a sarcastic way either!)

As a thank you she brought me some Urban Decay goodies. The Shattered Face Case, and a Brow Box in Gingersnap. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a makeup FIEND. I’ve loved makeup since I was a kid, raiding my moms stash of red nail polish and red lipsticks was a favorite pass-time. My makeup addiction is out of control and I am always happy to get more, it’s my version of a shoe obsession. Best “thank you” ever. I animated the purple smokey eye I applied with the palette just for fun.
